As you all know, we Saraswats are essentially a migrant community which moved from region to region in a bid to escape invasion and forced conversion to Islam and Christianity.
Although a large part of the Chitrapur Saraswats settled in Karnataka, there seems to be a linguistic divide between those who lived on either side of Bhatkal. Those who belong to North Kanara (i.e. between Bhatkal and Belgaum, Dharwad and Hubli) are known as the Badgis (Badgancho) and those who belong to South Kanara (i.e. between Bhatkal to further south upto Bengaluru and Mysore) are known as Tenkis (Tenkancho). For instance, Udipi maam, Mangalore pachi, Baby Trasi are all Tenkanchi while a Shirali pachi, Bailur kuppi or a Honnavar will be Badganchi.
All in good humour of course, but one can't stand the other when it comes to certain words. Although both are 100% Bhanaps, it is the Amchigeli bhaas each of them speaks that makes all the difference. Here are some examples:
